BullBuilder U19’s Players of Month April & May 2019

BullBuilder is pleased to announce the winners of the U19s players of the month for April and May 2019.  Also thanks to Barclays we have the opportunity to receive up to £3000 Matched Funding from the Summer Ball on 7th July. The April award goes to winger Ryan Butterworth sponsored by Paul Butterworth (no relation).   Ryan, who comes from the Stanley Rangers community club is a winger who has impressed this season. U19 Coach Leigh Beattie said “Ryan is a player that has been very consistent this season at wing, fullback and centre.  His energy and enthusiasm have shone through along with his toughness and his willingness to get the job done and it’s for these reasons he wins the award for April.  Going forward he is in his final year of U19s rugby now and just needs to keep doing what he’s doing now.   In the long run his position may be as a winger and if he keeps working hard he’ll be hopefully playing reserve rugby league next season. The May award goes to prop Anesu Mudoti, who is sponsored by the Red Amber and Black Forum at rlfans.com.   Anesu comes from the Hunslet Warriors Community Club and was called up for the Yorkshire Academy side earlier this season. Leigh Beattie said Anesu has been very hard working prop forward and has improved a lot over recent months.  He’s got a great work ethic and has started to get noticed in the right places. This resulted in his selection for Yorkshire Academy.   He’s got another year to go in the U19s and physically is starting to fill out and if he continues to work on his core skills he’ll kick on massively.” BullBuilder chairman Paul Butterworth said “These two young men have been making names for themselves in the past few months thanks to the efforts they and the coaching staff are putting in.   BullBuilder is delighted to reward them for those efforts. Ryan and Anesu will receive their awards from their sponsors at the BullBuilder Annual Summer Ball on 7 June. Come and have a great night and support youth development at the Bulls. U19s Player of Month March 2019

BullBuilder is pleased to announce the winner of the U19s player of the month for March. The March award goes to winger Murphy Smith.   Murphy, who comes from the Guiseley Rangers community club, is a winger whose attitude and commitment in training and on the field has stood out this season. Head of Youth John Bastian said “Murphy is a player that all the coaching staff, including myself, Leigh Beattie, Mark Dunning and the Strength and Conditioning Team can’t speak highly enough of.   He’s even caught John Kear’s eye with his performances for the 19s. He’s young man that displays the highest standards when it comes to attitude and application.  He really strives to learn and improve, as a winger and as an athlete.   His performances this year are of the most honest I’ve seen in 20 years of youth development.” Murphy, who is in his second year in the U19s is studying his ‘A’ Levels at Benton Park High School.   John Bastian said “We’d like to commend and thank the staff at Benton Park and the coaches at Guiseley Rangers for the effort and commitment they’ve shown Murphy.” “All the staff are delighted with his progress this year.  He’s played every game so far and as a winger he can finish well but he’s also never afraid to make the hard carries or put his shoulder in when it comes to defence.   He’s one of the first names Leigh Beattie puts down on his team sheet.” BullBuilder chairman Paul Butterworth said “Murphy is very highly thought of.  He’s a talented player with an excellent attitude.  We’re pleased to be awarding him the BullBuilder U19s Player of the Month award for March 2019.” Murphy will receive his award at pitchside at half time during the match versus Barrow on 22nd April.   Murphy’s sponsor is Dot Daly who will present Murphy with his award, supported by BullBuilder Board Member Mary Jo Daly. Bulls get the Knack of it.

Thanks to the support of BullBuilder young players at Bradford Bulls will be getting the benefit of more cutting edge technology. The NacSport System is a sports performance analysis tool that is currently used by coaches and players to break down video footage of games.  This is then compiled to identify areas of good play and areas for improvement to help players improve their game. Head of Youth John Bastian said: “The system helps break down games so that individual players are assessed.  Each gets a points total and the system can look at attacking play, defensive play, kicking and other facets of the game.  It helps to point out good things players do on the field and areas for improvement.” BullBuilder has helped us upgrade the system currently used by the Bulls to offer more advanced systems including new licenses and monitors.  This is an elite system.” John Bastian said “The new equipment and licenses from BullBuilder will allow players and coaches to drill down even further into footage of their performance on the field.  It enables coaches and players to give more attention to detail which will improve performances.” The system should have a knock on effect on player performance and ensure constant improvement for those players that use it to its fullest.” Josh Bryan from Analysis Pro recently spent time with coaches Leigh Beattie and Mark Dunning and the players to provide education in using the new systems so they can get the most out of the upgraded equipment and software. BullBuilder chairman Paul Butterworth said “It’s thanks to the generosity of BullBuilder members and supporters that we were able to provide the funding to get this equipment and we think it will be of great benefit to the coaching staff and players.  In the modern game we can leave no stone unturned as we seek to provide the best coaching and support to young players.” Some of the first users of the equipment were the Bulls players who have just been selected for the National Youth Performance Programme, Jake Judson, Lewis Camden, Taylor Mail and Jacob Beety, (pictured). BullBuilder members and Bulls supporters who would like to help continue to support youth development should be aware that the annual quiz night takes place at Odsal on Friday 1st March. Paul Butterworth said:  “Last year this was a great success we hope to match or even better last year’s efforts.  Ross Peltier has very kindly offered to be a Quiz Master and the event will be attended by players and staff.” “The Bulls are supporting the event and will provide a fabulous Team Prize for 4 to 6 people, hospitality in the Southbank including free food at a home league game of the winning team’s choice.” Tickets are £5 per person or £20 for a Team of 4/6 people. BullBuilder Help Youth Teams go from Turf to Surf

The Bradford Bulls U16s and U19s team enjoyed a change of scene as part of their pre-season training in February. The teams made the trip to Bridlington for some specialist physical and teamwork training.  Head of Youth John Bastian explained: “This day was an excellent opportunity to use a different environment for the youth players.  We took the players to the beach where they underwent a number of exercises designed to challenge them in different ways.   It was a good way of integrating players from the year 11s with the U16s to the first and second year U19s.  The players enjoyed various challenges that pushed them to the limit.  These helped foster team ethics and working together when going through the pain barrier.” After this session the players used the facilities kindly made available by Dave Robinson at Bridlington RUFC to perform further training before given lunch which was paid for by BullBuilder. John Bastian said “It was a superb day, very enjoyable, and there was a lot of intensity in the training.  I’m sure the players and coaching staff got a lot out of it.  I’d like to thank BullBuilder and its members for helping to make it possible via their financial donations.” BullBuilder chairman Paul Butterworth said “It was a freezing morning that started off in bright sunshine, but soon turned very cold with a sleet shower heading over. The boys were fantastic and never gave up in the freezing conditions. A true credit to the club and if these lads carry on with the attitude they showed this morning they have an amazing future in the game.” Pre-season training started in early November and is now well advanced.   The first game for the U19s is on 28 February at home to St Helens, KO 7.30pm.    The U16s kick off in March. Quiz Night Back Again in 2019 BullBuilder has a number of events planned to help raise funds to support the youth teams in 2019 kicking off with the annual quiz night at Odsal on Friday 1st March. Tickets can be purchased from the Club shop or on line via: https://bullbuilder.nutickets.com/54950096  or contact David Lowdell on 07584259103. BullBuilder to Climb Every Mountain Following the success of the BullBuilder 3 Yorkshire Peaks Challenge in 2018 they plan to follow it up with a trek up Mount Snowden in Wales on 22 July.  The length of the walk is 9 miles and takes approximately 5-6 hours to complete.   Last year saw player parents, coaching staff and supporters all join together for an enjoyable stroll in the dales (or the hardest thing ever!) that raised several thousand pounds.  If you want an further information please contact Toni Hoggett 07947 159065 All monies raised will go to Bradford Bulls Academy and Scholarship youth development at the club.
